It was so nice having a four day weekend from work, especially because it was a paid holiday (my favorite)! We had Andrea, Ryan, Abby, Ethan, and Robert over to swim in the afternoon. Luckily it didn't rain while we were swimming (it started pouring after we got inside). Then the missionaries and two ladies from the ward came over and we had a barbeque. yum...It was a lot of fun. After everyone left Robert, my parents and I watched The Rookie. It's a Disney baseball movie. It was good.
Although it was nice only working 3 days this week, those 3 days dragged on forever! I was once again really ready for the weekend. I had my first viola lesson back with Cathy Forbes on Wednesday night. Cathy is the viola professor at UTA, and I studied with her all through high school. It was really really weird to come back from a year with Dr. Bigelow at BYU. They are similar in a lot of ways (really nice, optimistic, perfectionists who push me really hard), but they are also very different in the way they teach. Dr. Bigelow was really pushing for me to become more independent and experience freedom and expression in my playing, and Cathy is the complete opposite. She's very particular about how you play everything. She basically tells you in detail how she thinks you should play it. She also focuses a lot more on technicality. I learn a lot from her too, it's just such a stark contrast. My first lesson kind of shocked me, but it'll be a good summer with her. She wants to have a recital (but not that formal) at the end of the summer to "celebrate" what we've done. That'll be fun.
I've been slacking majoring on the running this week. I've just been soo tired and not in the mood. I've only ran once this week. Monday was a holiday, Tuesday I was recovering from the holiday, Wednesday I ran, and Thursday the power had gone out so my alarm didn't go off. My excuse this morning was that I needed to sleep in because I was exhausted, I have plans today and my ears are really plugged up from allergies (I hope). haha. So next week I'll do better. But I have studied and practiced a lot more this week, so I haven't been a complete failure! Well, I need to finish getting ready so I can go see Pirates 3 with Robert!

You are really lucky to have different styles of teachers. Together, they will push you to be your very best (technically and originality). I am just so amazed that you aren't burned out of the viola after so long. I am so impressed that you still feel so passionate about it. I heard a beautiful song the other day that had a viola solo in it. All that I could think of was you. Hey....are you watching my fav. show ever...So You Think You Can Dance?
KATIE!! It has been so long since the last time I have talked with you! I hope all is going well with you. My life is going so fast that I can hardly keep up! I'll hopefully be at BYU in May of 2008 so maybe that fall when you return to school we can hang out and catch up! I miss having people to talk to. Keep up all your good work and hopefully we will talk again soon!
