Roomies!

Well, things are going great here. We have one last thing left for new student orientation: a huge dance!! That will be fun. We've all decided that this just feels like EFY with a lot more people than usual. We have been in "Y-groups" with group leaders, we've had devotionals, we sit and eat lunch with our group and have special talks about living at BYU, and we even have to wear wristbands. It is nice having a week to settle in and get to know people before starting classes, but I think we are all anxious to start. One thing I love is that mealtimes have become great opportunities to meet new people. Every time we eat we sit with new people and other random people will come join in. It's a lot of fun. Although nothing has ever become of it. We haven't ever seen or talked to them again, but it's still fun. I have yet to meet my RA, my Bishopric (I have my interview on wednesday), or anyone else in our hall besides the 4 of us suitemates.

I love my roommate! Her name is Jenna Mortensen. She's from Sandy, Utah and she is a runner. She reminds me some of Sallie Anderson (a friend of mine in the stake who is a runner and is also pretty, in good shape, energetic, and fun). We get along really well. We are also good buddies with one of our suitemates, Charlotte. Charlotte is from Denver, Colorado and she is a really funny girl (usually unintentionally). they are both really nice, friendly, and fun. We have hung out during all of this student orientation stuff. Our other suitemate finally arrived on campus last night. We were all a little aprehensive about her because she is a cheerleader from California. she is tan, has bleach blonde hair, she has TONS of clothes, belts and shoes (she has at least 30 pairs here and she said she only brought half of them). But, she does seem really really nice, friendly, and she seems pretty serious about school. Out of the three of them, Jenna would be my first pick, so I'm grateful she's my roomie!

Robert and I have spent lots of time together as well. We went to the art museum one day, we go to the HFAC to figure things out/sign up for our auditions/talk to our professors, and such. we have found it's really really nice to have someone close to that is also majoring in music and who plays a stringed instrument, because we're both in the same boat. We're so nervous and excited and scared about the music program. I have been to his dorm lots and have met his roommates and such. There are about 5 or 6 of them that hang out all the time.

well, I need to go practice!! I will post again soon!

Wow. It sounds like you are having so much fun! When you get a chance you'll have to take a picture with your suite-mates and post it. How was church today?

Katie,
You will love every one of your roommates, because of who YOU are. Your positive attitude and ambition will get you far in life. Keep it up, especially when things get tough. E-mail me your phone number, so that we can schedule our dinner date. You can bring Robert too if you want, we'd love to meet him! skbrait@yahoo.com
